Writer: Know Your HealthKnow Your Health

(HealthDay News) — Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a heart attack, says the American Heart Association. Women and men can have different symptoms, so it’s important to know the hallmarks of a heart attack for each gender.

The AHA mentions these heart attack symptoms for women:

  1. Uncomfortable pressure or pain in the center of the chest.

  2. Chest discomfort that lasts a few minutes or goes away and comes back.

  3. Pain or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach.

  4. Shortness of breath.

  5. Breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.

If you have any of these signs, call 911 and seek immediate medical attention.
