Health Tip: Prevent Bullying

(HealthDay News) — When adults respond quickly and consistently to bullying behavior, they send a message that it is not acceptable, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service says.

Parents and school staff can help prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy, the agency says.

Here are the agency’s suggestions:

  1. Talk about what bullying is and how to stand up to it safely.

  2. Keep the lines of communication open.

  3. Encourage kids to do what they love.

  4. Model how to treat others.
