(HealthDay News) — Some 1.5 million people in the United States have an autism spectrum disorder.

People with autism need family and friends to help evaluate what they need to be safe and protected, says Autism Speaks.

Autism Speaks mentions some safety risks for people with autism:

  1. Wandering.

  2. Drowning.

  3. Household poisons.

  4. Misunderstanding due to communication issues.
