(HealthDay News) — Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the rectum. Also known as piles, hemorrhoids affect an estimated three of four adults, says Mayo Clinic.
Signs of hemorrhoids include:
Bleeding during bowel movements.
Itching or irritation in the anal region.
Pain or discomfort.
Anal swelling.
A lump near the anus.
