(HealthDay News) — Amnesia is a temporary loss of memory. Those with amnesia can forget facts, information and experiences, says Mayo Clinic.

Mayo mentions these potential causes of amnesia:

  1. Stroke.

  2. Brain inflammation.

  3. Heart attack.

  4. Carbon monoxide poisoning.

  5. Long-term alcohol abuse.

  6. Brain tumors.

  7. Seizures.

  8. Certain medication.

  9. Concussion.

If you or someone you know has unexplained memory loss, head injury, confusion or disorientation, seek immediate medical attention.
