(HealthDay News) — A stomach virus typically is mild and goes away on its own, says the American Academy of Family Physicians.

To help ease symptoms of a stomach virus, the academy suggests:

  1. Eat bland foods.

  2. Drink clear liquids.

  3. Stay hydrated.

  4. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.

  5. Stay home and rest.
