Health Tip: Hurricane Readiness

(HealthDay News) — An important part of hurricane readiness is collecting supplies that will help keep your family safe, says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Before a hurricane, the CDC suggests that you:

  1. Prepare an emergency water supply.

  2. Prepare emergency food and medicine supplies.

  3. Gather a flashlight and first aid kit.

  4. Gather personal care products, such as toothpaste and a sanitizer.

The agency says it is also essential to make a hurricane plan. This includes finding out where the nearest shelter is, and writing down emergency phone numbers.
